So from what I can tell, we Linux users have the following stable native LinuxVSTIs (prices as of Sep 3, 2013):

Pianoteq Standard (249€)
Pianoteq Stage (99€)

Loomer Aspect (65 GBP)
Loomer String (50 GBP)
Loomer Cumulus (magware from CM)

Insert Piz Here Mr. Alias Pro (donationware)

TAL NoiseMaker (free) <-- though 'Cl LP 24dB' filter isn't in filter menu...

DiscoDSP Discovery ($99)
DiscoDSP HighLife (free for a limited time)

mda JX10 (free)
mda DX10 (free)
mda Piano (free)
mda EPiano (free)

Rumpelrausch Taips ZR3 (free)

Am I missing anything? Of course I'm not talking about wrapped plugins using Wine or anything... It would be pretty cool to have WhySynth ported to LinuxVST...

Pianoteq runs on linux, not sure if it's VST or LV2/LADSPA. same for LinuxDSP plugins.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Pianoteq... And so it does!

LinuxDSP, don't see any instruments from them...

Would the great Whysynth sound better as a vst? If one is using linux for audio
production, wouldn't new features and sounds for Whysynth be higher priority
than supporting the least supported linux plugin format?

As for stable, my limited experience with lv2, and linux-vst
has been a mixed bag. I install calf and invada lv2 plugins, the old
ladspa standards, and everything beginning with a z. The rest
has been too problematic, and I have no time for problems.
Pianotech is on the savings list for December 24th. (knock on formica  )
Reaper with wineasio is still the most versatile linux audio option available,
and Studio1337 is a fast and versatile linux to run it on.

Cheers

Not all hosts support DSSI out of the box. Linux Tracktion currently supports LinuxVST and LADSPA, which is what I'm aiming to spend more time with...

I don't think WhySynth needs any more features, it's already a beast!

ZynAddSubFX
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Akai VIP = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

HighLife for Linux is free at the moment.

Awesome, thanks George! The website says demo with no restrictions, so I wasn't sure...

Ok, you got me, I should have been more clear in my post. Where can I get Zynaddsubfx for LinuxVST that works? I put the .so file (from the anticore website) in my /home/.vst folder but the plugin doesn't show up in Tracktion or Qtractor.
