K-Bee, I think you will like any of these modules.They have a unique sound,
I just bought the 26 year old U220.

Ha ha I was looking at that too! I could get both a d110 and a u220 for 800 DKKR together. ($120/€107) :tu:

The D100 is good too.

Looks a bit inspired by the NanoSynth?

The XV2020 is hard to find.

Post

Yeah I've never seen one offered 2nd hand before over here.

XV series have USB (except the XV-3080).

I've got an XV-5050 that unfortunately seems to have lost its ability to process MIDI; the patch previews work fine, nothing else seems broken- only no MIDI is recognized, whether USB or DIN cable... spent some time rooting through various fora etc. to see if there was a solution, but for now it sits in a box gathering dust.

@ccDuckett

Have you tried a MIDI interface like MidiSport?
I just bought a XV-3080 (no USB) and I already wondered because I don't think the module will be recognized without a dedicated MIDI device.
Obviously this is just a guess, I don't have MIDI cables yet lol

Besides, the XV-5080 uses 44.1 kHz sampling, the XV-3080 uses 32 kHz (8bit).
I think the original sounds are resampled in the XV-5080 and sound less subtle and a bit noisier due to the added high end. However, that's my personal opinion. I can't compare the XV-5050 though.

Thanks for the reply and the links- I've had the editor since it was working; what I'm talking about is the poor thing won't work with even just good ol' DIN cables from a controller, let alone running it through the 'puter. It's actually my 2nd 5050, I'd replaced the one I bought new somewhen around '99- 2000 that'd croaked.

I have two Roland boxes, a JV880 and a JV1010. I love them both. I did some extensive programming on them years ago, and I still find myself going back to them when I want that specific quality that only these boxes can provide. I would love a VST to do what these do, but so far nothing has really come close.
