Minimal ostinato - two instances of Kaleidoscope using presets from the same family, one in dual spring, the other in dual string mode, only using the internal noise generator to excite the resonators - made during sunrise in Berlin.

Version 1.0.2
Date: 03/01/2015
Fixed in 1.0.2:
- Retina Display issues affecting some Mac models.
- Improvements to general GUI responsiveness on OSX
- Fixed an issue with BPM Tuning modes which was introduced in 1.0.1 and effectively had broken Delay FX presets.
- New preference: Mod Position Show/Hide. Hiding the mod position tracker can save further CPU resources on Retina Display Macs if needed.
- Other misc fixes/optimizations.
...and to thank everyone for helping us to make this the most successful product launch we have done so far, even with the previous minor annoyances that have now been fixed... Deep thanks!
Fixed previously in 1.0.1:
- Dramatically improved efficiency for String Resonators.
- Additional improvements to efficiency for all other aspects of the algorithm.
- Fixed an issue that prevented proper use with systems that had more than 16 physical cores.
- Additional misc fixed and enhancements.

Here's a better mix of the same material with more bovine goodness. The real point of this exercise was to demonstrate how KS's pitch controls can be manipulated artifact-free in high-quality offline bouncing. The various octave and root pitch automations, while difficult to audition in realtime, render very well.jeremydb wrote:Alrighty, here's some kind of fragment, maybe the unfinished conclusion to my unwritten symphony in high romantic style. 4 KS instances with some other junk, but most of what you could easily assume is "other junk" is really just KS. Enjoy...

All quiet on the western front. I assume this means 1.0.2 is working nicely for everyone now?

BTW, something I did not ever make explicitly clear: when you use really large buffers in KS, this also slows down how fast the GUI updates... So at max size of 2048, the GUI may feel a little slow. if this bothers you, for faster GUI and less latency use smaller buffer -- but this will use more CPU resources...
the best compromise for all of this stuff is perhaps using 256 or 512 or so, and remember to set your host buffer to the same value... but as always feel free to experiment and use what feels best on your particular system...

Our good friend Austin Noble tells us he used KS the music he did for this:

Very cool!!Also, I used Kaleidoscope for some sound design parts of my work titled
Event Threshold which is used entirely throughout the Official Warner
Bros gaming Trailer for the 2015 release of Batman Arkham Knight.

Rookie question- I've noticed that many of the images uploaded here don't have any "apparent" red and green in them (Andrew's Hadamard Matrix, for instance). I've been trying to make all of my images mostly composed of red and green (which does not please me esthetically, lol). Should I just concentrate on form and ignore the colors to some degree? I can always scan Never Mind the Bollocks and turn up the color intensity...

is that to be expected?

No matter what you decide, I suggest (as did aMUSEd before me), that you not pay for the filter backup stuff. I did, and it locked up every time I tried to install it. I finally just told them to credit it to me towards the next upgrade. Use the legacy browser mode and spend an hour, one time, and get all of the online filters for free and save $29.Daags wrote:I see Filter Forge 5 is currently in beta, and buying FF4 now only allows you a key for the beta period and not beyond.
So, good idea or bad idea to buy FF4 at the moment ?
