I love Cubase, and it's my most favorite DAW that I've ever owned.

However, I am currently cheating on Cubase with Sonar Platinum.

Be carefull it's a dirty expensive whore that don't give that much in return... :hihi: I never managed to achieve one single project in sonar because of its multiple bugs, but the workflow and the overall gui are just somptuous. And i have to say platinum is really really pretty. Hope the program will become more reliable because mix recall and vocal sync are some awsome features, and i'm afraid i'll have to update my x2 soon or later. For the best, i hope.

You have to go in a dialog box, then tick to open/close. This kind of oversight makes the whole thing useless...
Well, hope you're already sat down as this will come as something of a shock to you; those very clever SB devs didn't forget - try ALT+T

I just asked around; don't know if its in the Manual or not...
It is though on the Key Commands menu, right under the editors folder it is called Show/Hide Rack

Cubase is still my bae..... Sonar is just the sidechick that I've been using all month with much joy.

<3 Cubase still though.

Thanks, Guillermo ! I was wondering : is there a shortcut for deactivating an instrument track ? I was trying to make a macro with render in place + deactive vsti track, but don't find nothing.

I just came home from a client. He needed help with a couple of his productions, on top of setting up Cubase 8 (after jumping from C5).

While I do like the new "taskbar" concept, which clearly reminds me of using either Logic or ProTools on the Mac (which finally makes window placement on dual screens easier! Huge improvement - but IMO not worth 150EUR non-boxed upgrade from C7.5), I am baffled by the blatant showing graphic glitches, and the awful "zoom" sliders in the arrangement window.

The placement is totally off. It looks to me, as if the "taskbar" is setup to 100dpi, while most screens are setup to 71dpi. And this introduces an offset in the placement. The fonts are also totally whack - does anyone of you remember the "fond drama" with C6.x? It seems to be back.

I also still don't understand, how one can not(!) set up both the reference level and/or color codes for the EBU R-128 meter. But this is just me commenting from an "audio engineer" point of view.

Also another thing that really bugged me a couple of hours ago: I set up inputs/outputs/external devices - load a project, and these settings are gone. They don't revert to "global settings" like everything else does that you set up without having a project running. So in order to "keep" the settings - you need to save a template. I know this is pretty much happening for years, but an "automatic settings reset" would be nice. Or at least a more to "save" the VST Connections setup.

I didn't touch that much else, as the "basic functions" worked fine. But these things/features were staring into my eye. And I don't want to talk bad about C8 before I can fully test it myself (when is the demo due?! for the n-th time...) - I mean, the most recent version does look nice on paper. But in actual use... bugs that were already present versions before, severe graphic glitches that still aren't fixed and tell me "the host is unfinished". As if programming interns worked on this one (it's just not professional).

To me, this is not C8 - this is indeed C7.75 beta.
And development should have been (at least IMO) extended for at least another year. Including porting of useful FR's.

Bring on the demo, please. I'd like to be surprised otherwise.

But as of this moment - still no purchase from my side. And if the issues continue on, maybe not even C8.5. So a huge shout out to the early adopters that have to deal with these issues for two generations now. I've been there myself (nobody wanted to believe me - trust me, I do in your case!) - I can relate to your anger/disappointment.

Well, I hate to say that since the last 8.xx update I cannot open Cubase without it crashing on my Yosemite Mac. Switched to Logic X till I get time to analyze

This is really a SAD state of affairs. I've heard more people bitch about the cubase 8 release than anything I can remember (other than some sonar stuff) and I don't understand it. I know it's complex and human error always accounts for certain imperfections, but this seems ridiculous.

I actually thought the uproar over C7 and it's mixer was (way) worse - I recall daily DEFCON 5 meltdowns.

You're in an amazing state - so stay there.

Well the more popular something is more heat it will generate. Unfortunately no demo yet, I would really love to try it. Really bizarre.
