Back in September I recorded a new set of double bass samples. I haven't made a double bass library out of them yet, but I did take a subset of them, loop them, map the living crap out of them, and used them to make this:

A synth with double basses being bowed for oscillators, multiple voices per note (up to 17), MIDI CC controls, fancy SFZ opcodes from the current Aria engine update, and named after a very elegant killer droid from an Albert Pyun movie.
Now available for download. Also, here's a song where I used it for a couple of layers - the sidechained "synth" which comes in during the verses, and also one of the layers (the subtler of the two resonant acid basses, I guess) during the refrain. Plus it's also got my Emilyguitar throughout and Cowsynth making the high-pitched plucks during the drops.

Can now be downloaded from http://www.karoryfer.com/karoryfer-samp ... a/ironface
Also, a waaaaaaay TL;DR "making of" thread I put on a bass forum, where it would confuse people: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/a-cybor ... d.1112470/

Here's a demo. All Ironface all the time, no effects on the individual tracks, just Kotelnikov on the master channel for compression. Sure it's not the world's most versatile synth library, but that's a pretty big variety of sounds for nothing but the same double bass samples.

But I already want to make a more aggressive, brighter version. Already talked to the cellist who recorded the samples for the Karoryfer x bigcat cello, she likes the idea. With her samples I should be able to use notes from the loudest velocity layer - they're longer and more even than my loud notes. So, she'll be Blackheart - that's the one on the right in that pic. I guess that will just leave Zinc to make and I'll have all the Roms from Omega Doom.
