@Taerkith, gonna give that guide a read

@OP, I had a listen to your stuff and it's decently stuff that's well produced and I think your mixdowns are certainly in the ball park. I'm guessing that maybe you've hit a ceiling with how you can improve them?

A: Is propellerheads reason good enough to make a quality mix ?
> I don't use it but everything these days is "good enough", but that's not an endorsement to say you should keep using it, or not.

B:Where i can i learn the tried and tested fundamentals of mixing for FREE or cheaply ?
> Try this site out http://www.mixedbymarcmozart.com/ , his articles are practical as well as thoughtful, and there's also a free twelve week course you can also sign up to. Came upon this on the u-he site.

C: How to know when you've used a bad sample before it comes to mixdown time
> I think this will only happen with experience

D: I've heard using preset plug-in are bad as they are compressed and make your mix sound band, what is the alternative or to presets, or choosing good sounding plug-ins.
> Not sure what you mean here??? Do you mean sample libraries? Coz they can be quite compressed, but if it works....

Thank you both for the contribution.

for question D i meant, as you load up a synth or instrument using the default pre-sets that come with it. Instead of prehaps tweaking the settings

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7#p5968357 It's in this post i did previous, i maybe misunderstand what the poster said. It was 4daminds post, 3rd one in.

Ok, had a read an he was referring to samples not synth presets. Some sample sets can sound quite overly compressed but not all.
