Thanks for explaining. :)

Why should the software world be different from the hardware?

I think it's total freedom to be able to patch the modules like you want to ...

OBxd was beta tested in 2013, but the release proper was in january 2014 (release notice posted at KVR February 19, 2014 http://www.kvraudio.com/news/datsounds- ... ob-x-25047)

Brainstormer is listed in KvR database as being from 2014

Here is a new contender maybe, released by: http://www.beatassist.eu/mantra-evo/

Well you treated Triumvirat without respect. What comes around goes around

Why do you post in a thread I started if you don't want to communicate with me? :D

I have the Mantro Evo, its got a lot of good ideas, the presets are worthless compared to what you can do with it. A lot of the features don't add anything good, so it's kind of an unnecessary headache to figure out if it's usable or not.

I am passionate about the music I like.

Had I badmouthed someone else, for example for liking ELP, I would have accepted to get "the finger" in return too, and would manage to live with that.

So I have edited the post, let's hope that settles matters:

Note that this is not an apology.

I just don't need this kind of hassle. Had somebody pointed such an image to me, I would have understood that it was made half-jokingly, and in the heat of the moment. I wouldn't be carrying a grudge about it for several months.

Because it is: there are virtual synths that don't or can't exist in hardware form, as well as analogue emulators that simply can't match the character & tone of the real thing. And there's nothing wrong with that - different is ok ;)

As for virtual modular systems...IMO they're good for one thing only: as an introduction into the modular world and maybe (hopefully) helping in aquiring a taste for building your own hardware system. Hardware modulars frequently include modules from different manufacturers - each with its own character & features. That's one thing you can't do with plugins. Plus the total randomness of the real deal and the "fragility" of the obtained sound(s) that need to be recorded right away or lost forever - as opposed to hitting the "save preset" button ;)

Anyway, different strokes for different folks, I guess ;)

Don't bank on it!

Anybody who has cast a vote can change it, next time we check it can be 40+ votes for Fish!

Post

Oh I didn't know we could change our votes. Obxd sounds great, I find the ones I use other than my own is usually the KX77free stuff.
