Oh yeah. I already got the Novachord Kontakt Instruments from Hollow Sun and SonicCouture (that one even has all controls of the original synth in the GUI...) and would really love to see an emulation.

Anyway based on the amount of circuits/tubes included in the original beast i guess this would eat CPU like hell...

Would be also difficult to get holf of a working unit. Those used for the Kontakt libraries took lots of time and money to restore the units. Don't forget those were originally built in the 1930s(!!).

The synth engone of the Novachord seems to be based on sawtooth waveform and a series of different filters with either fixed or adjustable cutoff. In the past i tried to re-create the basic principle using a modular synth like Mulab MUX. While not sounding identical it seemed to be a nice approach.

That would be nice. :tu:

Quite difficult to find an original unit in working order though.
Try asking Dan Wilson if you can study his?

Either that (used for the Hollow Sun Kontakt library) or the one from Phil Cirocco (used for the SonicCouture Kontakt library) would be an option indeed:

FWIW also my commercial bank for PPG Wave 3.V includes some patches based on some "Lo FI" Novachord samples (single 16-bit Mono samples, no multi-samples) based on my own patches done with the Soniccouture Novachord Kontakt instrument. This was done with official permission of Soniccouture.

Whatever it is it's going to be of very high quality as it is from XILS-Lab. And I know that I would love to have it ! :-)

Why bother with that, if you can just go directly to THIS

But I maintain that the best would still be THIS

I got one in... hem... around 1982 if I recall correctly. It was the first time in my life that I was able to have a synth having the same size that my flute in my backpack (it was even smaller). The sounds were a total crap, it made tit tut tut tit tut like a Gameboy, but it was nice on the grass of the campus of the university to make the girls come around, because for them of course the melody was much more important than the sound. For the sound my CZ-101 was of course much more appropriate, but much less easy to carry in my backpack.

On the campus (and everywhere else) I of course generally preferred to leave my girlfriend play with one of my flutes (I lent her always the same, the most alive) rather than with the Casio. She had an excellent lick, was a real virtuoso and made wonderful things very enthralling with my flute that she couldn't do at all with that keyboard... but it is another story which had nothing to do with the music.

Casio fans will certainly be disapointed. Its not the very glamourous VL-Tone. 8)

Just musing with it atm and it's indeed high quality, and an unit I think a lot of people will be delighted to play with. Also, its pretty unique, as all Xils-Lab stuff :)
