My girls 9 and 6 years old, constantly listen to the new Katy Perry album in the car every morning when I drive them to school and it's okay... problem is that I remember lyrics very fast and I can now sing along on 1/2 of the album.

I love weird artifacts in my synth voices - the weirder and more jarring, the better.

Codestation wrote:I love autotune. Well Melodyne. The sound of tuned vocals, robotic, weird; I love it. Don't need it, but I use it anyway. Has nothing to do with it being popular.

I love compression. Ridiculous amounts of it.

Distortion. Digital clipping. It's beautiful.

Vinyl filth, noise, the static of shortwave radio; amp noise, guitar finger squeaks and scrapes... I love noise. The dirtier, uglier, and more horrific it is the better I like it.

What things do you like that you "shouldn't" (for whatever reason)?
Along those lines, my favourite sample library ever is one called "Dirt and Layers", it's a comprehensive library of every kind of noise texture, bump, scratch and tone you could ever need. Just such a creativity-enducing library. Along with the Sonitex plugin, it's the perfect toolkit for adding texture and lo-fi-ness.

My confession. I like these:

Pretty much any 80's power ballad with big synths and a soppy but slightly surreal atmosphere.

Mr. Mister is good, I guess. Anyway (obviously?) I too much like all that electric boogie music and break music from the 80s.

Mr Mister! I've been meaning to look for their "welcome to the real world" album. DX7 for the main bass riff in that song if I recall correctly.
