the license are the same on pc and mac

just different plattforms

and i does not like this either if companys sells there versions mac and pc separately !

and writing to the support "please please please can you provide me also the setupfiles for pc and or for mac ?"

why not making it in the first place to the customer as every user has an account and they could add it automatically !

So if you buy a PC to replace your mac you have to buy all your software again. That's the worst policy ever. They think they get more customers using that policy they just scared off thousands by it being mentioned on this forum.

With Apple vs Windows companies could allow for one switch. After all, who switches back and forth between Apple and Windows repeatedly?

Reminds me: I used to have other software (not to do with music), which I could install three times. The forth time I had to ask and justify why I wanted to install it yet again. So I told them that it is my computer and if I feel like it I can install my computer anew every day. Needless to say that I abandoned that software and replaced it by freeware.

Do any music companies sell software by platform any more?? Imagine if Omnisphere (for example) was only available for purchase on PC or Mac, and if you wanted it on both you had to purchase TWO copies. Absurd!

Here was the official reply from inMusic Brands regarding theRiser on multi-platform:

Hello

The purchase of the Riser is for either Mac or PC, not both.

So if you want both, you must BUY THE SOFTWARE TWICE??? Sorry, I just can't wrap my head around that software model.

They have a marketing problem. They are representing different brands under the same marketing/branding umbrella with wildly different consumer policies. They haven't paid my retainer so I'm not going to offer them any free advice as business consultant, but all I see here is a stain on M-Audio's brand.

Forcing users to purchase for each different platform is a bit crap ... sheesh. It's not 1995 any more :-/

So, if you have Kontact, REV could work as an alternative. It's not quite the same, but it's a damn fine sample library with lots of control over the Kontakt scripted "synths":

Also on special until the end of Nov 1st, as it happens.

Peace,
Andy.

I think that might not be all that rare, actually. Admittedly, I never bought a Mac (often considered it, if only for broadening my horizon), but I have both Windows and Linux machines around. Renoise and Tracktion run on either OS and the licenses allow for it.

Not talking about this particular product, but what if a company said that its full product price was $140 or you could buy a version for one OS for $80?

Also, I do not think that many individuals go backwards and forwards between OSX and Windows. People working on their own and for companies may, but they should have separate licences anyway.

Yeah, companies are free in this world to cut off their nose to spite their face in whatever way they enjoy to.

Some people use both platforms at the same time. So if they are using say Native Instruments, or VSL, or FXPansion plugins say in VE Pro and in their DAW host in real time they aren't faced with 'a switch' at all. This is idiotic.

In terms of switching; I switched from Windows to Mac yrs ago; I may in future acquire a windows box as a better buy as a slave. I would not buy something which restricted things forcing extra purchases just owing to platform in this way. Now I understand more than one license for more than one machine at the same time but that kind of assumes very high end investement, IME.

LMAO. Good luck with your business, with logic like this.

Yes it's annoying to have plugin licenses I can't use now I'm on a Mac

Probably for the best though as I really need to stop buying so many VSTs anyway...
Upon purchasing you will be eligible for both this is just to track OS's

If you've got a good collection of synths and FX and are vaguely competent with them, you don't need the Riser anyway :hihi:

I mean, sure, it's nice to have a synth dedicated to making certain sounds quickly and easily, but it's nothing a template file with some pre-loaded effects chains can't handle.
