The_Hidden_Goose wrote:I've made use of broken mp3 glitch sounds before. It's a pretty unique sound that's instantly recognisable to anyone who's had mp3s from when they first started to appear, so I've only used it once, and had the track basically descend from pleasant ambience/drone into a warbling, cracking, hiccupping, distorted mess.

I don't use compression much, but I completely overused it on a piano one a track so much that the piano pushed everything away on it's attack, and slowly sucked the rest back into the mix on the tail - totally unintentional and noob mistake, but I ended up liking the effect! Again - only once, as I didn't want that push-pull compression thing to be a major part of "my sound".

Accidents often stay in the tune. Sometimes they can end up being the basis, while all the original plans I had for the track get slowly whittled away.
I have some old highschool garage band recordings with cheap amp buzz, squeaks and squealing... Kinda want to slice up the good ones for effects or something now. :D

It's amazing what you can reconstitute out of knackered old "bad" recordings.

I've used guitar loops made by my brother I've recorded onto naff old tapes on a barely-working ttape recorder so the noise and dirt is as loud as the instrument - when processed it has come alive into something enw & unexpected.

Guitars seem particularly suited to that kind of thing for me. Which is just as well because I can't play to save my life - but I can make some noises with noe that I can use :)
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. The higher the fewer.

I have every single Monkees album ever recorded and I love them.

I often use presets. Many times without editing them other than some CC assignments if they don't already have them. In fact, sometimes in drum software I'll just use the factory drum patterns if I find them interesting and just jam away over them for hours.

I took Nicki Minaj' Stupid Hoe for a clever satire on mainstream music industry, you know, 3rd Reich'n Roll, Flying Lizards kinda thing...

My first CD was Push by Bros and I loved it when I was 13.

My girls 9 and 6 years old, constantly listen to the new Katy Perry album in the car every morning when I drive them to school and it's okay... problem is that I remember lyrics very fast and I can now sing along on 1/2 of the album.

C'mon, it's not that bad when you turn off the sound and look away from the screen! Very peaceful, actually...
