Looking for creative freeware VSTs

I've been working on expanding my plugin arsenal lately, and I've found great VSTs to add to my library that will truly do their job, so I may shift between different ones to play with and find an as good sound as possible to an element.
But I haven't found that many "creative" ones.
What I refer to are plugins that do something unusual, not your standard common FX or modulating plugin, but more of re-shaping plugins, and so on.
For example I recently found a plugin that somehow reshapes the input waveform to change the sound, and it's actually when I found this plugin that I got thinking of this.
Can't remember the name of it, I just saved the page as a bookmark among all of the others that I'll later download and try out.
And yeah I've already taken a pretty big look on the VST database here at KVR.
Btw, I'm kind of broke at the moment, so freeware VSTs are prefered, though if you have an amazing suggestion on a plugin that costs, sure share it, I may afford it in the future (as long as it doesn't cost a fortune).

Another thing to do is to load up for example 3-4-5 or 6 flangers
or reverbs (or any other plugin) and feed them some audio
and hear what happens.
It can produce some interesting results.
If you have a modular D.A.W like MuLab you can run them
in serial or parallel and....you get the picture

Yeah I know what you mean, and I do a lot of actual sounddesign with routing different combination of effects and so on.
But I'm very curious of what else there is out there than the standard plugins.

I also came to think of Truc2 from de la mancha
https://delamanchavst.wordpress.com/effects/
It can produce some very strange things and it is
cool to play with IMO.
Cheers

All the good ones are in the free thread sticky in the instrument forum(effects there also). Otherwise you're not going to find anything but say TAL's latest chorus, or some super basic compressor (if you have problems sleeping).
