Will there be a crossgrade price for owners of the Wavemapper (since they offer a bundle)?

i just asked wolfgang the same question via the support on his site. i'll let you know if i receive an information from him.
cheers
edit: oops, sorry i asked if there will be a crossgrade for owners of the wavegenerator for pc.

"Crossgrade"? You mean, you want to switch from WaveGenerator to WaveMapper?

sorry, maybe crossgrade is the wrong term. as an owner of the wavegenerator for pc i wanted to ask if it is possible to upgrade to the bundle for a reduced price (hope it makes more sense now). since i like my wavegenerator plugin a lot i want to have both, of course.

99 € is a great deal for Wavemapper2. Since no one has to ask for a discount.

i agree with you and i have no problems to buy it at the normal price (it is certainly worth the 99 euros). on the other hand, new customers can get the bundle for 149 euro and the older customers who have supported ppg in the past cannot upgrade to the bundle (at least based on the recent announcement and the comment on facebook).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of te major features in Wavemapper is the "Sound Map" ("Map" tab at the GUI) where you got a bunch of Icons called e.g. "Osc1", "Filter" etc. which you could use to combine certain parts of different patches (patches saved as "root" patches) to create a new patch. It is also possible to record the movemnt of such icons to do patch morphs.
After moving the icons you could then further edit all parameters to adjust the patch to your liking.

Of course it is also possible to "skip" the Sound Map and just create a pacth "from scratch" like in other synths. There is also a way to export your own patches as "root" programs that you could use in the Sound Map to re-combine parts(modules of your own patches to a totally new one.

About the wavetables (and TCS):

As mentioned earlier Wavemapper 2 is compatible with wavetables from Wavegenerator (either created in Wavegenerator or with the corresponding output format in the free Audio term tool).

Wavemapper 2 itself does not include a dedicated waveform editor but you could import samples either as wavetables or as time corrected samples ("TCS") which is like cutting a sample into many pieces that could be used for scanning like with a wavetable.
The same sample as a wavetable or TCS could sound quite different based on which kind of sample you use.
Imported samples could be also used like a "normal" sample if needed based on the import and playback settings.

Of course you also do it the other way around with loading wavetables created in Wavemapper 2 into Wavegenerator (e.g. analyzed speech samples). I have checked this and it seems to be working. The wavetables could include bu to 256 different waveforms.

The "Blend" parameter in both synths allows to adjust how snooth waveforms are played with the default amount of "0.00" for the smoothest playback and at a value of 1 you get hard switching of the waveforms.

Using the paths like in Wavegenerator allows a much more complex playback of the wavetables (and TCS) than it iis possible in most other wavetable synths that use only an envelope or LFO for wavetable scanning.
In the new PPG synths the enveloep is used too this modulates the path and not the just the absolute wavetable position (which is posible too).

Ingo, your post is headed WaveGENERATOR 2 not Wavemapper2

I've just bought Serum but was planning of Wavegerator for PC for Christmas - I don't quite get what the difference is between wavegenerator and wavemapper?

Hmmm, I don't know, the GUI looks great but the sound demos are not that convincing to me. Need more examples.

I alraedy tried to explain some features above...

Major differences are the Sound Map feature and the sample resynthesis/analysis feature (import as wavetable and/or TCS = time coded sample). TCS is basically wavetable scanning using short samples (imported from a longer sample) instead of single cycle waves.
As already mentioned above Wavemappper 2 does not include a wavefom editor like Wavegenerator while the wavetable format of both synths is compatible (there is also a compatible outpout format in the free Audio Term wavetable editor).

This is also one of the reasons why bot hsynths are avaiable as a bundle at a a reduced price.
