It's a great tool, but I still can't get it too register.
Anyone else have a problem?
Thanks,
R.

Amazing Slow Downer needs to be mentioned as a good contender, though :

Less accurate perhaps, but excellent quality of rendering and low price, unbeatable quality/price ratio until now

Hello Robmobius,
There seems to be a random problem that 3 or 4 people are having with the admin rights preventing the folders from being installed.
Ircam is aware of this and with the info we have passed on to them about your case and the others, they think we will have a solution for it today.
Best Regards,
Nick

If one buys it now for OS-X, would one get the upcoming Windows version free of charge or at a discount?

Hmm, it's good... i have done some extreme stretching from 120-40bpm on a chord melody, and it sounds pretty much exactly like reason's does at identical tempos. In other words very good, but nothing new that we don't already have.
Without a way to musically stretch, i also don't really have a use for it.
It needs snap to semitone and tempo functionality sorry to say.
And also sorry to say, reason's pitch on melodies is far superior. I pitched something up 8 semitones (same chord melody), reason remained punchy and clear, this started getting mushy and lost all transients (even with maximum transient setting, and yes i played around with all the settings).
So propellerhead already did this 4 years ago, and overall better. The *stretch* on this *might* be slightly better at extreme stretches, but for special effects i can do this in ANY daw anyway with alt/clip size - logic, cubase, S1, Reason etc
And this doesn't have any DAW integration.. i am not really seeing the advantage here....
It might be useful for logic X users who no longer can access radius, they could assign this as their wave editor and double click a file to open this and stretch it (then logic intelligently updates the file back in the arrange page, being awesome as it is), but even so, flex is good enough for almost all but THE most extreme of stretches. Sonar has radius. pro tools has radius and elastique pro. I am not really seeing the use for this, and it's $99, sure, when presonus time factory came out at some ridiculous price years back, it was worth it because mpex was the best stretch around and was not integrated in any daw.. but these days even reaper has dirac and elastique standard.. so.... I'm kinda lost to the relevancy of this.
if it did something that sounded twice as good as reason, i.e lost NO quality at ALL, if a stretch and shifter comes out some day that does that, then yes I will be all for it.
don't get me wrong, the quality is very good in the time stretch (but really the pitch shift was not good in my test, and yes i had formants disabled as it was a chord melody - i am happy to upload the files if one wants to compare?) - but all daw's have that these days standard.

Hello TheoM,
Thanks for your comments about the Ircam TS.
Please bear in mind that it is the first release of a product that has years of research behind and years of development to come, (Ircam has been going for quite a while).
There will be a lot more features to come, snap to semitone and tempo functionality, DAW intregration as a plug-in, etc....
Sales have been great and the clients are quite happy with the quality of the time stretch and pitch shift.
And remember the Transient, Sinus, and Noise sliders are there to experiment with, one can get some nice hybrid sounds going quite quickly.
Keep the comments coming as it will help improve the product.
Best Regards,
Nick

I have to say Nick. I really like it... And I think the sound quality is fantastic. I do a lot of re-sampling, for voice effects, bass and other general musical weirdness. But I'm very picky about what I'll use for this process, and I've been disappointed by Presonus's S1 time stretching. It's good on drums, but it's very unpredictable, and often leaves nasty artifacts if you extend the sample.Nick Hamilton wrote:Hello TheoM,

Logic's was solid, and Ableton did a good job as well (likewise Bitwig). I was not all that convinced by the waves stuff. It does the job.
I've used the IRCAM tech in Motu Mach 5, which is stunning (just listen to that Starwars demo ). But it can be a lot of hassle getting Motu set up for one or two quick bass bounces.
That's why I wanted a product like TX. One bounce out to the Desktop, and it's in to TS then straight back into the DAW. So, I'm happy with it being independent from the DAW. And because the sound quality is superior, I don't have to do anything beyond the original bounce.
I do agree with Theo, on the semi-tone snapping that would be a neat feature.
Very solid release in my opinion Nick (especially if their is more features coming!).
