..for only $20 you get a really awesome sax (Kontakt required). I don't know if it's realistic enough for you sure.

I like a lot all the saxo samples (within the factory presets) of Dimension Pro.
I like a lot DVS Saxophone too (from Dream Vortex Studio) for little things in a mix.
But really my preferred for the solos (and quite cheap for its huge quality) is LinPlug SaxLab. Multisampled and with many features close to a physical modelling in addition to the provided samples at the source. Take a look at the pages 6 and followings of the English PDF help file and listen to the examples (LinPlug website, SoundCloud, Youtube...). By far my best saxo emulation. And with the aftertouch... and microtuning.
I don't know the others, so I can't talk about them.

this is a great recommendation. but it's actually called Silverwood - Ampere is the nord G2 simulation.Winstontaneous wrote:I'm pretty impressed by Chet Singer's Ampere Reaktor ensemble, which has Physically Modeled sax and clarinet waveguide modules. "Controlled chaos" is the best description, great for mapping aftertouch and other CCs to harmonics, overblowing, multiphonics, etc.

I know Chet Singer has separate modeling ensembles, but I've never used them, just the waveguide modules from the Ampere collection. Ampere is inspired by the Nord G2 but Chet has added many modules not found in the Nord. To my ears he's done a great job of making building blocks that are versatile and experimental, but very musical-sounding as well.

Interesting you mentioned that. I am not a sax player but have Samplemodeling, Embertone Sensual, and several other ones mentioned here and elsewhere. They all are nice but I find that some of what Samplemodeling does for instance in interpreting runs etc, to be a little off sounding. I really like and old Kontakt adapted version of VSL Tenor that I keep going back to for a more realistic sound, but more towards the smoother side of sax. In the end it is highly subjective, the way most VST Instruments are.Sampleconstruct wrote:Being a sax player myself, the most versatile and least artificial sounding sample library I encountered is the VSL alto sax, extended library. It has a wealth of articulations and doesn't sound cheesy at all. But if you want the real thing, learn how to play it.

interesting, i actually downloaded ampere but never used it - will have to give it some time. makes sense it would have some of the same modules; in any case, it's somewhat comparable to wivi, if you already have reaktor (maybe a little bit woodier sound).Winstontaneous wrote:I know Chet Singer has separate modeling ensembles, but I've never used them, just the waveguide modules from the Ampere collection. I own and love CMusic Productions Solo Sax. It is full-featured, user friendly and especially at its price-point (its on sale now for about $40 some USD), unmatched in quality. I find it easy to create truly realistic tracks with it. Check the video on Youtube:

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Akai VIP = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Hi miden,
just a shor question about the sample tank saxes you mentioned, do you mean the "normal" ones under /woodwinds or do you have some special "hidden" secrets (especially for the sl 2, something in the extensions ?) ? And would you reveal you secrets
