Thanks. It's coreaudio ported to windows but i tried it on my laptop last night and it worked. To use bluetooth with Lemur you need midibridge but i think i'll post a few questions on the Liine forum.

How do you find using the ipad with stuff hanging off the end? That 30 pin connection looks pretty solid but the lightning connector seems kinda fragile, like all it would take is one cable yank to damage the socket. :|

FTP looks good, thanks! :tu:

I've read on the Liine forum that you can use an iPad with midibridge to use lemur over a bluetooth PAN but according to this looks i need rtpmidi to receive on the desktop. https://forum.liine.net/viewtopic.php?f ... oth#p13623

Can anyone confirm this before i start buying apps?!

Cheers!

I've never had an issue on iPad 2. Even setting it on top of an MS20ic controller for controlling the iMS20 app. Usually sits on my counter with a padKontrol for bangin out beats or on a stand next to my Venom synth to use as controller and audio/midi interface. Never ripped it out of the socket yet, but I know what you mean with the lightning connector. I have one on my iPhone 5. They fit in pretty snug.

I had a similar question (http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 8#p5879558) and it appears you can communicate over wifi to your router as long as it's connected with a ethernet cable to your PC. So no bluetooth or adapter necessary.

Would be great if i could set up an adhoc network on my PC but the options not there. :( So you can confirm that works?!

I've got a bluetooth PAN network setup and afaict all i need is Midibridge to connect ipad with desktop but it's not ios8 compatible yet so ad hoc would be ideal right now.

Fortunately i can use the iPad with my laptop in the meantime so can play around with things. Livkontrol is pretty nice for Live and Yamaha mobile music studio seems really good for quickly getting ideas down, like the interapp audio!

Connecting through your router is not ad-hoc but a 'shared connection'. Lemur for eg. works fine this way. Only downside is increased latency but depending on your needs this doesn't have to be a problem.

If you go Lemur you might like 'Shove' a template emulation of 'Push'. There also are dozens available for free to control your Max4live devices.

I like DAW Remote HD for it's GUI but Lemur and Touch OSC are more flexible.

Don't know Yamaha studio but it looks nice. Also consider Nanostudio, Beatmaker or Cubasis.

Aha, shared yeah thanks. ICS won't enble for some reason, i enabled all the group dependencies and simpy can't enable it.

I am thinking of going Lemur for all the templates, i bought the ipad for Reaktor as well and nothing else seems to be as well developed in that area. Think i came across Shove but that would cover Live control.

iPad isn't so up and running as you might first think, there seemd to b a fair amount of groundwork to do if you want to use anything over than wifi so i'm trying to get all the details ironed out before i go ahead. If midibridge connects the ipad via bluetooth then i'm golden. :)

Just testing out the free stuff at the moment, i could easily empty out my bank account if i bought all the apps i want. Cubasis, Gadget etc all look great but i'm trying to adapt to making music with a touchscreen first. Cheers.

I see.. I agree connecting your iPad can be a bit daunting from time to time (and from app to app or even protocol to protocol) but as always, once you have it working you'll never have to look back again ;)

Personally I like to work 'in the box' on iPad and with Audiobus, Audioshare and inter-app audio this is a breeze.
For controlling my PC DAW I chose DAW Remote since I only need it for arming/recording tracks but with Lemur the sky is the limit. For me though I still have lots to learn about controlling my DAW so diggin' into Lemur as well seems premature.

If your interested here's a link to (free) templates: https://liine.net/en/community/user-library/tag/13/

Enjoy!

Yeah i just want to control Live and Reaktor for now so i can either jus do this one my laptop with wifi but it isn't as powerful as my PC. Pc has no wifi so i either need a connection kit and hub or wired midi interface such as i connect. Don't know why rtpmidi won't install but i foresee an windows reinstall in the near future. Good times! :wheee:

Bluetooth looks like a no-go between iOS and windows there's no support with midibridge which leaves the Apollo app. Apparently cooperlan can be used as an alternative to rtpmidi but i don't know how to get the ipad communicating with it.

I'm sticking to control for now, i'm still getting my feet wet with the apps. I had alchemy routed into garage band triggered by 5th degree last night sampling the audio off that but timing was a bit hit and miss and there was no way to edit and slice the audio, i guess this is where beatmaker is regarded as the best so i will look into that more. Do i need to buy audiobus or is that baked into apps which now need updating for ios8?

Cheers!

You buy the Audiobus app once and updates are frequent. Also, most major music apps are Audiobus enabled. IAA is also good and it is built into iOS, but not as slick in configuration as Audiobus.

Not all apps are supported with IAA as well. Between the two, you are covered pretty well though.

Cheers. Looks like i should be able to use bluetooth with rtpmidi, ran across this: http://216.152.138.194/wiksnet/Home/bluetooth

I've just been upgrading Windows anyway so have rtpmidi installed, will try tethering the ipad once i've cloned my install but i'm trying to determine if Lemur will work this way without Midibridge but according to a comment on CDM and that Lemur post it should. Bit of a pita not being able to test the apps, once i buy it that's it and if it doesn't work i'll have to buy extra hardware.Apparently you can just connect the lightning adapter with a jailbroken ipad , no extra hardware and i'm almost tempted to do that but don't wanna void the warranty...

Apps wise i'm not that mobile so don't know if it's worth buying all that stuff when i've got access to a DAW and vsts. But been able to control that stuff with Lemur seems hella cool if i can get everything communicating.

Well i made a rookie mistake updating to ios8, most apps aren't available yet but it gives more time to explore stuff. I got the ipad to connect via rtp midi last night and it worked with Livkonttrol so cheers Spiritos.

I had a bit of a play with Stylo anyway and i'm starting to see the potential as a sound design tool with audiobus and routing between apps. A lot to be said for the way things are integrated. :)
