I'm a long time Studio One User, and, though the included sounds "work" to a certain degree, most of them are uninspiring/awful. While searching I found Plugsound Pro http://www.uvi.net/en/composer-tools/plugsound-pro.html , but reviews say that it's a glitchy program with outdated sounds.

Bang for the buck, I was looking at DSK HQ Instruments http://www.dskmusic.com/high-quality-instruments/

Any recomendations? If I go with DSK HQ, what Soundfont player/Sampler you recommend?

Download and try NI Komplete Players, kontakt player has a very small but usefull library.

I don't really like NI stuff; I find their environment a little cluttered.

Bigcat stuff looks great, also looking at bigcat stuff and some sfz instruments

Any other stuff I should be aware? Any thoughts on DSK stuff?

bigcat have also VSTi versions... Good quality so you don'y need billions libraries in your HD! ;-)

Just like Beetlejuice, you guys are kind enough to mention me and up I pop.
When I got my first little DAW, I became obsessed with free instruments and I made this list, needs to be updated but probably mostly working links to totally free instruments and players.

http://www.vst4free.com/ has lots of interesting stuff. The quality varies, but many gems.

Dimension Pro is older and variable quality, but fun and goes on sale sporadically for about 20 bucks.

If you ever go for Kontakt the trick is download and install the player from Drumm'ica, the freebie drum instrument. Then during an upgrade sale upgrade for roughly $125 bucks.

Also, +1 for BigCat stuff.
