Anyone know where you can find a Free Orchestral Vst?
like edirol but free

There are some soundfonts of suspect origin, that can ok (though not great), but you if you want legal and free, hunt down the samples based on the University of Iowa sampled instruments.

But don't expect much - sampling a full orchestra tends to be costly - so not many legal ones are available for free.

You can find some individual instruments: Cellofan is okay for cello (if you can find it), pianos there are plenty of and soundfont.it has a nice physical model of a trumpet.

Sfz + Squidfont orchestral soundfont is the best way to go for free, from my experience. Yes, legal. Absolute majority of soundfonts are.

Don't know about squidfont's legality, but I wouldn't say most free soundfonts are legal. There are certainly a lot of them which were sampled from hardware workstation or are otherwise based on commercial samples.

String section is not something most people be able to samples themselves, and someone giving such samples away through something like sf2midi is rather unlikely.

Also this, though a few of the soundfonts were argued to be shareware and not technically free. Papelmedia isn't around anymore though, is it?

Bigcataudio has some individual orchestral instruments ... cello, violin, viola, harp, double bass
They're vsti made with Maize Sampler.

Also check Karoryfer Samples and 99 sounds .
