Price now up for the update from Ultimate K8U-K9U - 336 euros. That's right there's a bargain (good UK / euro exchange rate right now too for fellow Brits - £266. Could be worth buying from Thomann et al depending on official UK price).

Yes, I am disappointed. A hardware workstation with some Komplete instruments would have been awesome (creativity without having to use the computer) Though this controller could be a first step in this direction.
If they had integrated a few libraries, than the price would have been great...

And yes, their midi controllers are way too expensive. I guess, their target group are people who don't have to care much about money. Does the controller at least have aftertouch?

Individual KOMPLETE Instruments not supported. You must own a registered copy of KOMPLETE 9, KOMPLETE 9 ULTIMATE, KOMPLETE 10, or KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE to use the KOMPLETE KONTROL software. Please note that at the time of release, some KOMPLETE Instruments may not be fully supported by the KOMPLETE KONTROL software. Functionality issues will be addressed in future software updates available free in the Service Center.

Very disappointed in the price and number of physical knobs on the keyboards, not to mention that they're not USB powered. I guess the keybed must be excellent for these to be priced so high, and it does have other useful functions, but not so relevant to my current needs. Besides, maschine can act as a host within a host, albeit with stability problems, so for NI plugins the browser and mapping can work anyhow, even in another host. Hoping for a 25-key nektar panorama or 25 sl mk3 soon.

Komplete Kontrol -Browser- appears to be taken entirely from Maschine's 2's preset browser. Which I suppose makes sense.
I always felt that maschine + Komplete + a controller keyboard was very close to being a lovely little 'enclosed' workstation.

sadly presets outside of the factory komplete stuff was a bit of a pain. (no batch import! I had to write mouse macros to save out presets)
i suspect if its the same code it will be the same story again.

I hope that the browser does not require the NI keyboards as a 'dongle'. (At the very least it would be nice if it interfaced with maschine... they've already done the driver part.)

Initial reaction - HELL YEAH.

Yay - Komplete Kontrol is inculded in the software bundles. Looks really interesting - almost looks like it is a host for the individual instruments. Very keen to find out more on this.

Promising demos from Polyplex and Kontour. Rounds looks great on paper too, though no demos yet. I see its available right now, so hopefully it won't be long til we get a feel for it.

Have to say, K8U - K10U looks like the biggest no-brainer I've had in some time.

Ouch.. didn't think the update from Komplete 9 Ultimate to 10 ultimate would be so steep. Is it always this much? I've yet to buy anything Native Instruments unless it was on sale. 400 euros is a lot of money and I don't really need anything that is added to komplete 10U but I'm tempted.

The guys with only the normal version of Komplete get the better bang for the buck in my opinion. Oh well..

love the concept of the new controllers but the only problem is i own other plugin besides NI plugins... i prefer to have the same workflow with all my plugins... and not have to think about... wow, this is a NI plugin and i could use the controller for this... with my other plugins... back to the mouse...

as for the komplete 9 ultimate upgrade to Komplete 10 utlimate... well... i had my eye on Session Horns Pro ($299)and Discovery Series: Cuba ($99) for a while (waited for the k10U upgrade)... along with the other instruments/effects... the $399 asking price for the upgrade is not that bad...

i am a little concerned with the new pianos... did they "repackage" the old ones? i was hoping for a pretty nice piano upgrade... but i do not think that is the case here...

all and all... pretty happy with the K10U upgrade!!!

They DEFINITELY did not repackage the old ones (the old ones are utterly horrible). Listen to the demos of the new pianos! They are incredible sounding!

Damn, these pianos alone may have sold me on the update! Close and very intimate sound, void of any nasty resonances. Just utter perfection!

EDIT: Just saw that it's even included in the normal Komplete 10. That makes the Komplete 10 package unbeatable value in my opinion. Damn, I'm really struggling to see the lure of Komplete 10 Ultimate upgrade price. Sigh..
