Oddity Win!

@arkmabat: are you sure Rush used an ARP Odyssey in that song? o.O

I realise the OP is talking about software, but it's just an FYI for any other Odyssey lovers.
O'yes :)
But I have begun to despair when Korg announced the release of nearly six months ago. There after, nothing has been heard from Korg. Not even the color, and there have been unclear information about if it going to have small or full-sized keys.

The only thing I know is that they say that it should be 80% of its original size.

I honestly I do not know if I want it. Today there are a lot of great mono synthezisers at really good price, such as the Bass Station 2, Pulse 2 and Arturia Micro / MiniBrute.

Korg may convince me to buy it by putting a really good price.
If it will cost more than 10 €, I will prefer to buy a Sub 37

Elektrostudio - ODsay wins for me because it looks sleek and is a pretty close emulation.
Roberson Audio - Oddy-Free is closer to the MKII Odyssey with the "moog style" phat filters.

Cool, cool. Time to check the ODSay out. :)

They've put back the release date to early 2015.

I'm keen on the idea of having a hardware Odyssey precisely because it isn't yet another phat-bass-and-lucky-man-lead Moog-style design. Also Oddity is a bit hard to control if you want to do the kinds of leads it excels at (although you do veer dangerously into Billy Currie territory while doing it) – having real sliders is an advantage as you can nudge several at the same time instead of having to turn one knob at a time.

Hugh Syme, who did the cover art: ""I was in their studio in Toronto - my first ever visit to their legendarily private inner sanctum - and one thing led to another. Geddy and I were huddled on the floor with my Arp Odyssey synth, operating envelope filters and playing notes to produce the soundscape that opened the overture of 2112. I then went down the hall for a few hours, and developed my Mellotron string and horn parts for Geddy's song, Tears. It's still a-very fond memory."

Well, I was a little dissatisfied with Arturia when they chose to go for "one" OSC with a mix of saw, square and triangle.
I do not understand why they did not choose a more Odyssey similar setup with two oscillators :(

But if it becomes a cheap new Odyssey, it will be a damn good controller for example Oddity and ODsay :)
Best thing would be if Korg could get into a collaboration with eg GForce and make a really damn good VST controller

@Gamma-UT: I simply able to say only: WOW!!! You're a lucky man, If You meet them again could you say them all my (and also of other thousands Sicilian fans) admiration, please? I ever desire they comes here to play! :-)

That wasn't me. That was Hugh Syme. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

On Topic : G force Oddity is the best emulation of an Odyssey.

I did many one on one comparisons of the arp originals with the plug ins.

The last OSC (one synth challenge 66) featured the ODsay vst. Don't know how faithful an emulation it is but good music was the result.

Ok. Here are two quick tests that I have done the youtube clip and Odsay and Oddity.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xmwidw4vB1o

I have taken two sound and tried to just copy the settings. So I have not tried to recreate the sound.
Transmitted sound is about 0.35
The second is about 1.11

The test results are:
Odsay 0,35: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0OyTS ... sp=sharing
Oddity 0,35: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0OyTS ... sp=sharing

Odsay 1.11: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0OyTS ... sp=sharing
Oddity 1.11: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0OyTS ... sp=sharing

The conclusion is that there is quite a difference between Oddity and ODsay.
Oddity emulates the original compared with ODsay.

i 've just discovered 128 presets for ODsay! => http://blog.wavosaur.com/4-free-arp-ody ... 8-presets/
i don't have oddity so i don't know how it compares, but i really liked the sound of ODSay
strangely, it does a better "lately bass" than some 4op FM VST synth !

ÀWayoutware is awesome

and its a 99 bux special right now

If its good enough For the team that made the hardware, its good enough for me.

I own an Arp Axxe and the basic sound of the emulator is as harsh and imperfect as my synth

But u have to like how Arp synths sound, they're definatly not mellow moog stuff
