Nah .. But it only took like 10 minutes to see if the enlargement could be made better. (and, to be perfectly honest, I think I actually prefer the standard GUI anyways.. the bigger a plugin's GUI, the more of the DAW it covers up )fluffy_little_something wrote:Gee, you are not seriously thinking of messing with those graphic files, are you?! Hmm... but all that, on Mac as well as on PC... isn't it a bit a kind of things not really allowed by the license? It is somewhat similar to a partial decompilation, no?EvilDragon wrote:On PC, ResourceHacker will do it.
And... also... it would perhaps resolve the problem for ONE person, but the most important is certainly to convince the developers to the importance of these very important aspects in the development of GUIs.
No?

It took me only 5 seconds of looking at it through my magnifying glass to know the enlargement could be improved (gee, I sound like some pervert plastic surgeon) But I am already happy the way it is now, the old version was basically useless...

It may sound harsh but it is what it is, the product is entirely about aftertouch. If you want a business proposition (even just a small pocket money profit) then you need to invest in the right tools. The cost is very small. If you wanted to make and sell jam on your doorstep you would still have to own a cooker and some pots and pans!fluffy_little_something wrote:Rob James G wrote:Basically I do not think Gunnar wants anyone to sell on patches without approval, you could ask him. No blank banks......
Attempting to make patches without a keyboard that cannot allow you to hear the effect of aftertouch for this soft synth would be totally absurd. Let alone trying to sell them afterwards.
Really? It is a commercial synth, why would people not make patches for it and sell them?! It is just like making sound sets for Diva or Dune. I doubt Urs has any say in who makes and sells patches for Diva.
Yes, maybe it is absurd to you. I was just wondering...
Memorymoon Synths are more of a cottage industry product, a very specialist synth. ME80 is a genuine enthusiast product created by a very small number of individuals. I think it is not something that Gunnar would want to police. He is very particular about quality as you would imagine. You yourself have already expressed an interest in making patches without even owning the tools to hear the results. I can imagine lots of second rate banks being created and diminishing ME80s reputation.
If you made a bank for a well known commercial product, say an NI product masses of people know what the original banks sound like and would judge your efforts accordingly.

Well, I did not know aftertouch is that important with that synth. I made some nice sounds yesterday without using aftertouch. But if you think aftertouch should be built into patches and is essential, I indeed probably better stay away from that synth instead of wasting my timeRob James G wrote:It may sound harsh but it is what it is, the product is entirely about aftertouch. And if you made a GUI that works just as well and looks the same but bigger the community would also be grateful to receive it.vic_france wrote:About the clarity of the "big" GUI..
(My monitors are 1920 x 1200 here)
I too found the BIG GUI to be a bit "fuzzy", so I did a bit of experimenting.. I took a screenshot of the original GUI, and loaded into a couple of freeware, or non-expensive (Mac) apps for photo enlargement, and, it having being posted here that the enlargement was a factor of 1.4, I tried enlarging the screenshot myself, trying out various parameters in those apps. I was certainly able to get the overall appearance much sharper than the released BIG version, but it was not without compromises (especially for text).
Anyways, my point is.. if you really do need greater clarity, the individual "resource" elements in the actual plugin (there are 54 of them) are in fact just standard.ping files.. so (at your own risk, of course), there's nothing to stop you replacing those files with versions that are more to your taste ).

In the nicest possible way, yes. Indeed it can sound quite pleasant without aftertouch (the original/base sound has to be good) but the synth is all about AT expression. Otherwise it is just another passable £25 synth. When it is so much more than the price tag would imply.fluffy_little_something wrote:

If you enjoy the sounds, purely for your own use then you are not wasting your time.fluffy_little_something wrote:

I guess I already wasted some time yesterday. I had programmed a nice bass, saved it in Mixcraft, and now when I select it in the patch drop-down menu of the plugin window, it doesn't load, despite being listed at the end of the factory preset list, as usual with MC. Just saved another patch just to test it, same thing again. Maybe some compatibility issue between ME80 and MC...Rob James G wrote:If you enjoy the sounds, purely for your own use then you are not wasting your time.fluffy_little_something wrote:
