Hello together!

A year ago i bought the Alesis M1 MKII Passvie http://alesis.com/monitoronemkii.

They are to big for my Desk, and somehow i dont really like the sound. Now im thinking about selling them (with the AMP) and get some KRK Rokit 5. Mostly i produce electronic music/Ambience/Lounge. Do you think they would be a "step back" or something, or are they as good as the Alesis speakers? It would be great to hear some opinions :)

Thank you very much!

Greetings

In general the RoKit series doesn't get much praise. The VXT series is supposed to be much better.
The smallest KRK VXT is 4". If you want to hear some bass, you should imho go no lower than 6" woofers. I guess dimensions will be simular to those of the Alesis MonitorOne MkII then. So that's not really a step forward.
You could add a subwoofer, but you need a large-ish room for that.

If you have the speakers sitting directly on your desk, that might be the reason why they sound off. You get the best sound if they are at ear height and more than 1 feet off the wall (bass ports are on the back I recall)
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

Try Adam F5. Fantastic speakers for the price. Accurate with great imaging and don't color the sound.

Hi!

Thanks for your tips. But whats making the rokit series interesting for me is the price, and the bass port on the front side, since my speaker have to stand near a wall.

if you go for the rokits be sure to get the G3 version.

Taken in account money and front firing bass port also consider the Tannoy 502's. Although the cone is 5" it's range is wider than the previous 501 6" plus in my ears better than the Rokit series.
