Hello,

My UVI Workstation Crashes on various UFS Files such as Urban Suite, Hip Hop Planet Ekoloops or Urban Vault from MVPLoops. I have checked File Integrity .. all fine. The Problem often comes up when the loaded Preset has a large Number of keyzones to load.

Problem exist in Standalone and VSTi Version. Actually installed is UVI Workstatin Version 2.5.4.

My System Configuration:
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
ASUS Board Intel Core i7 CPU 870
16 GB Memory
HDD: Samsung HD103SJ SATA 1TB
ATI Radeon HD 5700
UVI Workstation Version 2.5.4.0
Cubase 7.5 Build 7.5.20
Steinberg UR44 Audio Interface
Midi Input Device: M-Audio Axiom 61

Try outs for Troubleshooting with no effect:
UFS Interytest is OK
Tested another Soundcard
Changed RAM Memory
tried a second Hard drive with a cleaned up partition to get no defragmentation Problem
Disabeled all not needed Hardware (same Problem)
Disabeled all not needed Services (same Problem)
ReDownloaded UFS File from manufacturer

Few questions:

1) Did this happened recently or was it always the case ?

2) Does it crashes while loading or while playing ?

3) When you say "UFS integrity test is OK", I assume you have made the test in the UVIWorkstation browser and not a simple size on the HD check ?

4) When you say "Changed RAM memory", what exactly have you done ?
Usually when its crashes in 64bits while loading a lots of stuff, this could be related to some faulty memory.

What would be great is if you can check with a memory checker like this one

There is a free version.

I'm afraid I don't have much more ideas right now but I don't remember recent similar issues from other users so I suspect something strange.

Thanks for reply ...

1. It happend always but not even at the same preset to load
2. It crashes while loading, i think it is the moment by switching between loading and Playing Mode
3. Yes i have made the Test in UVI Browser
4. I have changed the Hardware Memory Banks to exclude a memory Problem, but also there is no other Problem on the System, so that i am sure there is no Problem in Memory

Is there any System Requirement like dot.net, java, C++ Runtimes ?
Can it be a problem with iLok ?

Have you tried it without disabling any Windows services?

Regarding 4. when you use your system daily, it doesn't use much RAM.
If the faulty memory is in the upper 4GB or more, then you will not see it with a traditional not RAM hungry usage.
Please check your RAM with a dedicated tool so we can rule out this and then try to find the possible culprit.

Ok i will give it a try in the afternoon, but i have already used different Memory Chips and i think they all can not be corrupted.

Hi UltraJv,

of cause i have tried with Microsoft Standard Services enabled at Windows Installation. I only switched some Services (e.g. Firewall, Securitycenter ect.) off for Troubleshooting.

Hi Otristan,

Sorry for my Late answer but the Memory Test takes some Time. But as I supposed the Test returns no Errors. Any idea for any further troubleshooting ?

Few others questions:

1) do you stack a lot of presets or you just browse those
i.e How many parts are loaded when it crashes ?

2) Can you reproduce the crashes with the sound pack demo for example ?

Thanks for your help so far. Sorry my late answer, but the requestetd informatin took some time to readjust. Here are the results:

1. There is only one Part loaded an i only browes the Presets by clicking the arrows for stepping through the Presets.
2. No I can not reproduce this Problem with Soundbanks who did not use the iLok such as Free Demo Pack, Defcon, UVX-3P DEMO etc. it only appears on iLok Products and there especially Presets with a large number of Keygroups
3. Tested on a32Bit Windows 7 with my iLok with the same Problem (Best Product for Testing is Urban Suite and the new MVPLoops Product Urban Vault)

Beyond that, I have transfered a Licence for my new "Urban Vault" to the 32Bit Win7 System Computer and removed iLok USB Dongel. This solve the Problem for this Product. No Loading errors and Crashes without iLok USB Dongel.

I have tried to do the same on my 64 Bit system, Licence manager says the Licence for "Urban Vault" is on the Computer now, bur UVI Workstation tells me with no iLok USB Dongle that there is no Licence for the Product found.

Any Idea to go on ? Is there a Way to transfer all my Products Licence to the Computer and why UVI Workstation did not see my Computerlicences ?

Hi,

Which preset are you testing in Urban Suite ?
See if I can reproduce it using the same usage/loading pattern

Let's not jump on the iLok black sheep right now, but I agree this can look suspicious :)

Still, we can try to reinstall it clean

1) uninstall "PACE License Support Win64" from Window Add or Remove Programs feature
2) reboot the system
3) download and install latest version of the License Support installer available iLok.com

4) reboot the system
5) try to reproduce the issue

Only product bought after 10 january 2014 can be transferred to the computer so not sure all your product can use the computer based authorization.

By the way, I leave for vacation tonight but another UVI employee will do the follow up instead here or by email.

regarding your win64 system, did you deactivate the license from the 32-bit system to reactivate it on the win64 one?

Just in case, do you happen to have another ilok2 stick available ?
that would be handy to try to transfer your licenses to another stick in order to rule out a hardware problem with the current one.

Ok i have reinstalled "PACE License Support Win64" as requested by oTristan, with no result. And still only iLok Dongel Licenses will be acepted.

By the way I have iLok 1st generation.

It's good to reproduce on such all Scratch Machine Presets, because there are many Keygroups to load.

Yes i have tried to deactivate the Licenses on the 32bit System and I also tried only one Activation on the 64Bit Computer with no USB Dongel connectetd but the Product license still not available on 64 Computer System.
unfortunately I don't have a 2nd iLok USB Key

When have you downloaded Urban Suite ?
I know of a sample error which happen only on Windows system that would not lead to a crash but to a stuck loading.
The soundbank has been updated the last time on the 5 of March.

Maybe Urban Vault exhibits the same issue.

It's related to some wav file that do not work nice with the windows version of a library that we use to load samples.

But that wouldn't explain why it works with the software licence and not with the dongle though.
Unless you've been lucky with the software licence and didn't stumble across those ones.
