I've created this topic for JBM Zoundle. Feel free to post any questions, bug reports, praise, constructive criticism if you wish.

A clarification. Although this uses Freesound to lookup sounds, it launches your browser to do so. Nothing is shown in the plugin.

This plugin is free, it's open source, the source is released under public domain. Anyone can take this source and reprogram it to be able to search any site. No credit is needed although highly appreciated!

Let me address some critics that 29 plugins where for WIndows and many Win only.

I use Windows as my main platform because I can't afford a Mac, and I don't trust Linux to be up to any good regarding plugins, the way it treats my external hardware.-

Has this tool helped you out in your music production?

Trying it now-loading slowly (I'm on a cheap connection), ok it worked. It's pretty handy, last time I used Freesound I was looking for chainsaw samples to make a rompler, but it didn't work very well.

Not yet, but it is certainly a great idea and I can see me using it occasionally. And not just looking for specific samples but just randomly picking a word and seeing what it delivers. Good fun. Thanks JBM.

This tool interests me greatly, in fact it is the only one from the entire DC2014 that I got truly excited about (I had once thought of coding my own 'advanced search' tool using Freesound's API but never had the time).

However, I'm having trouble getting it to work.

Using the EXE version of the tool, I never get any search results - and I think that this is because whether I have 'filename' checked or not in the tool, the search results in the Freesound window never have 'filename' selected.

I'm running on Windows 7 64bit. Is this a known issue, or something that can be fixed?

Thank you!

I will never be able to really use this tool because I am offline, but I do want to say that I think its an amazing idea. And making it open source is really generous. :tu:
I can also imagine a v2 that searches out freeware plugs from their descriptions. Although getting around all the marketing blurb terms might be tricky...

I'm trying to make it so one can simply provide a source file containing the links and data needed to search other sites.

Sad to hear that you can't use it since you're offline though.

Audington care to post the link you get, or maybe even better provide the preset in plain text file so I can analyze it better.

Hi JoBro,

Using these settings:
settings.JPG
Here's the URL string I get:

https://www.freesound.org/search/?advan ... f=duration:[+TO+]+is_geotagged:1+license:%22Creative+Commons+0%22&s=avg_rating+desc&a_tag=1&a_description=1&a_packname=1&a_username=1

Which gives me these results:
results.JPG
You'll see 'Filenames' and 'Sound IDs' are not selected. If I then click the 'Filenames' box to select it and click 'Search' it then does bring up search results.

If this could be fixed I would be super happy, it's a brilliant tool!

Oh I see what you're getting at...! I'll try to get this sorted out as soon as I can.

This entry coincidentally works well with Paraphrasis, you find a sample, load it, and you're ready to go with it time-stretched across the notes.

No wonder you didn't get it working for you, you've omitted the length parameters. Fill in 1 in the left field and * in the right field, and you'll find as many female screams as there are in the database. The problem is that this thing is required and cannot be omitted. Should fix this in the next version. Inserted this info into the product page under Caveats.

Thanks JoBro, works now! Would definitely be good if those could be set to 1 and * as default, but in the mean time it's awesome :)

Cheers!
