For those, extra bouncy modulated delays (tape based), you cant beat this.

Created by Roland in 1973, the Space Echo has been adding wonderful tape character and chaos to performances and recordings since its inception. Pink Floyd and David Bowie, countless reggae and dub albums, to more recent bands like Portishead and Radiohead, all offer examples of the warm, highly adjustable tape delays that the Space Echo affords. UA spent over a year developing our RE-201 Space Echo — considered the best of the Space Echo line — to capture the physical behavior of this complex device, “warts and all.” The resulting RE-201 Space Echo plug-in is truly a unique instrument unto itself.

BUT, this one aint so bad either:

the Lee Perry sound...
the most authentic emulation of the Roland RE-201, in my opinion... i tried the UAD one, but it wasn't as close as this. And yes, i am very familiar with the original hardware.
Really? You feel GSI modeled the Spring Reverb and tape saturation closer than UAD?

Space echo demo crashed my DAW! *Nothing* crashes my DAW :-(

definitely... plus the choice of tapes... and the overall ''dirty tone''... the distortion/feedback is far closer too... i used the original for years before my studio closed 5 years ago, and for about a year, used both this plugins and the original box (in various projects, from harsh industrial to old school dub), and i have troubles to differenciate them if i listen works from that era... GSI is a genius at emulating equipment that has dirt...
the UAD is not bad at all, but reminds me of the BOSS RE-20, roland's own digital pedal emulation of their tape echo. too ''clean''...
the GSI one has got the soul.
try their spring reverb plugins while you are at it ( it's called ''type 4'', if i remember well), as it it a dub must have too... even has the ''boing'' option... thunder!!!!!

oh, mind you, even more than with every old analogue gear, no two space echos sound the same... not just because of ageing components, but ageing tapes/ head alignment, and so on...
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

(it's really a delay)

I'm surprised Reaktor has been brought up without mention of the Roland Space Echo equivalent there:

Valhalla Ubermod has pretty much replaced any other dubby or psychedelic delay plug-ins for me though.

Aside from that I'd prefer to set up my own with regular delays and different plug-ins in the feedback path. Now that I'm using Bitwig Studio, you really don't need fancy delays because you can put anything in the feedback path of their delays.

was just about to :)

the fact that you can switch between Digital, BBD and Tape is nice - also you can spend a lot of time setting it up, very flexible and the modulation options are really good

No. No one even knew about it before you said.

All five of them.

Adam? Is that you?

Jeesus, I didn't realise times were so hard!

Everyone go now and buy an AD plugin.

Ratshack?

Ha!

A little known classic! Don't give the game away.

Single/Dual-Delay/Echo with versatile linking options, swing/shuffle, accent and classic ping-pong.
Analog/Tape/Digital styles.

Wow this is amazing - clever gui too
Thanks.
..Alot of thoughts and time went into it.
(to make it the most versatile single/dual delay, which is still user-friendly.)

You just can't go wrong with the Interrupter stuff. I always reach for Bionic Delay or Dubstation. Usually both.

Haven't tried the GSI, own and use the UAD version and it rocks.

+1 for Interruptor's Delay VSTs. He's got a treasure trove over there. Nasty DLA is nice too.
