Hi,
I am searching for free vst to add to my music recording and liked Chimera vst http://vst.majken.se/. In the future I might sell my music. Is the Chimera vst abolutlely free, even for commercial use ?
I would appreciate the creator of the Chimera to reply.
Thanks,
Dave

Yes, most freeware VSTs can be used commercially generally.
The OP is confusing something like the free "home version" of an otherwise payware file compression software for example.
Chimera has a multicore version now!

Unless a VST has a paid version available it's pretty safe to assume they're fine for commercial use, it's very rare for a vst to be restricted to personal use so it's pretty much implied that you can use them for whatever which is why you may not see it explicitly stated in readmes or licenses, just don't redistribute without permission or try to sell the vst itself.

Dumbest idea ever for a Synthesizer to say "ok use my synth for fun but buy the full version for serious song writing"
seriously who is able to remember which plugin has that lawyer crap ?
And who would enforce that ?
silly idea

If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.
If not Make a Mac version of your Plugins Please.

I agree, most people who bother to worry about wishful "what if" scenarios like that are pretty foolishrealmarco wrote:Dumbest idea ever for a Synthesizer to say "ok use my synth for fun but buy the full version for serious song writing"

if your music is so commercially successful that a developer notices their plugin featured in one of your tracks they're likely going to promote the fact that you used it not try and investigate if you have a commercial license or not

Usually when installing or downloading a zip with VST dll, there is included a readme doc that specifices which kind of usage is allowed.

I would think Majken would be pleased to be honest. He always seemed like a nice guy and I don't remember him ever stating his products were not for commercial use or any other restrictions.
In fact, if you look at the comments on the chimera page at http://vst.majken.se/ someone posted an link to their album that used Chimera and Majken comments "Thanks for the kind words! Those are some really good songs. I feel honored that you use Chimera in them. "
I think you're pretty safe to use it.

You're very safe to use it, in fact, you have my blessing!
