Post

Hi all,

Waiting a stable SE 1.2 64 bit, I done an hard work about the filters and to update the Kx-Modulad and the Kx-Synth-x16.

Jeff does an hard work also about the 64 bit compatibility of sub-controls and actually I'm working to adapt the Kx-PolyM-CSE in VST3 64 bit.

Anyway, they are free and you can buy jBridge for 20$ only if you want uses them with Live 64 bit.

Kx-Synth-x16 v5.0b / Kx-PolyM-CSE v1.1e

2 tracks added: "I am sequenced", "Just do it remix" encoded in WMA 24 bit/48k, unlimited VBR.

Kx-Synth-x16 ver 5.0b:
Bonus bank rewritten with "On the Run" tutorial and some new presets (Poly).
Fixed v5.0 bugs:
Now the Aux envelope follows the note priority choice.
The mini knobs selector of the Vol2 matrix destination works again (Poly).

Kx-PolyM-CSE ver 1.1e:
Possibility to detune the Sine oscillators.
Fixed v1.1d bug:
The Midi input (note on) of the sequencer works properly even if its Hi limit is upper than the low limit of the synthesizer (split options).

I'm sequenced
I used a lot the x16 sequencer and also my old external fx.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q2ZgGEH ... IAWVgTw_wA

Just do it remix - LFO and external Fx
This is a remix of my recent track Just do it, I added LFO fx on the lead and used my old external fx (Alex and Quadraverb).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRVuW6GF ... IAWVgTw_wA

05/10/2014 - 2 new tracks and minor Kx-Synth-x16 update.
Kx-Synth-x16 - ver 5.0a - only Poly:
Fixed bug: the CV sequencer output was not connected to the voice two.

Nostalgie des 90's - SF2 and external Fx:
I just bought a K7 player and I listened my old k7 made in the 90's and perhaps I will publish some of my old tapes but finally I plugged my old external fx, very low cost, like my Alex (Lexicon) and my Quadraverd (Alesis) to the second output of my SB to use them in this track.
I used the Polymod like a sophisticate SF2 player for the Bass and acoustic drum.
I just use the built-in Fx with the drum (delays) and also for the background Fx.
I made a cable with mini stereo jack to 6 jacks, 2 for each reverb and 2 to link the mixing console Fx send (old rack 1U Roland for keyboard).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmX0G8DS ... IAWVgTw_wA

KX-SYNTH-X16 - Without the hands - CV and Gate sequencer:
The first half part is 4 sequences made with 6 tracks of the x16 sequencer based on a patch which uses only the filter resnance like an oscillator and the second part is some examples of the preset sequences.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-i5RMes ... IAWVgTw_wA

21/09/2014 - 4 new tracks.
I recently done some tracks.
All tracks are done with my cheap Cubase 5 essential which I use for its great Midi features.
I'm a little disappointed by the final audio encoding in Youtube which kills a lot of sound details like dynamic, sub and high frequencies...

Other videos available on my Youtube channel:
Funky modulars:
I played 2 improvisations, I did that just for the fun but all is not good, sometime I'm not in place, I prefer the second part of this track (around 7 min) which is more expressive.
The main instrument is the Kx-Polym-CSE, like unison lead of brasses and strings, the Kx-Polymod is used for SF2 drums and the Kx-Synth-x16 is for the bass, a little bit.

Just do it:
Another KS like, the first part is based on the strings and following by a classic Moog lead with filter resonance fx in background.
I used 3 reverbs, 2 TAL for one of the string tracks and also for the drum kick in background. For the global reverb I used the Mverb and the GlaceVerb.
The main drums are based on the snares of my old SF2 drum set, played with a Kx-PolyMod. One Kx-PolyM-CSE is for the bass sequencing and another Kx-PolyMod is for the "Moog" lead on the second part (with in insert a flanger fx of MeldaProduction). All other tracks use a poly Kx-Synth-x16 V5.

Dance on the clouds:
Another track based on the Kx-PolyM-CSE.

Nemo's dreams:
I read the book of Jules Verne "Vingt mille lieues sous les mers" (Twenty thousand leagues under the sea) and this one inspired me about this poetic and metallic track.
All is done with the last Kx-Modulad.
I recently found the reverb " Glaceverb" of DASAMPLE which is good and free.

20/08/2014 - Kx-Synth-x16 - ver 5.0a - only M and Fx:
Fixed bug: the "Lp" button of the VCA envelope was not connected.
Thanks to Syntilla for his bug report.

27/07/2014 - Note for Google Chrome users:
The blocking of download of setup.exe is solved, you can download them without false alerts.
Thanks to the Google Chrome forum teams and to Debutante to prevent me about this Google Chrome bug.

22/07/2014 - Update of main plug-ins:

- Improvement of MgL filters with the MgLQ and MgLQd, they are oversampled x4 and can use more resonance level, they replace the MgL2 and MgLd. Also the new resonance curve of the Lo* filter (renamed Mg*and Mgd*) is very close of the one of MglQ (less cpu use).
- Possibility to disable the reset of oscillators.
- Improvement of Kxmod generators.
- Minor internal changes.
Fixed bug:
- The delay line of the MgLd filter for the oversampling interpolation input was not boosted like the input signal.

Thank you so much, Xavier, for all the work you've done on these, and for offering them for free, I'm going to download them now to have a look.

Cool, they will be fun to play with. I don't plan on downloading any 64 bit plugin, ever.

Ok I got the kx modulad, sounds really good! The presets that sound like quick snaps w/res or claps kind of get in the way, but most presets are usable starting points.

Post

Hi Debutante,

Please check your antivirus and send an False positive report or use Firefox.
Or download the zip and check it.
Send me a PM for the details.

for all:
My dear users,
Do you really think that I can do a malicious VST?
If you think that of me, forget me.

The *.sem (dll) are not signed and sometime the anti-virus by default creates a false alert, like avast for example.
Or if some peoples send a negative report following a false alert...

The big problem with SE and some anti-virus is that the SE dll SEM are not signed and the false alerts of any anti-virus are based on statistics and the signature, not on a real anti-virus test.
Even if I test my files with Avast before to upload and I compiled all on a safe computer which is not connected on the web, sometime (2 times*) the resident engine of Avast detects a "suspect" file, even if the scan is ok! And of course I must contact them to solve that.
*I had a false alert in October 2013 with Avast with a dll "kx-mixm.sem", the false alert was started just few weeks after I sent this file to Jeff for a debug work, before that the dll was used on my vst since several months without any alert...
Recently the UnisonFix.sem which is an official SE file provided with SE 1.211 started a false alert with the Avast resident engine and after I contacted Avast the problem seems solved. The beta VST which uses this dll is only available on the official Yahoo forum of SE since several months.

If one of my users prevent me and I can solve that in few days.
But if the web users have false alerts they can send a negative report about my url like a malicious url and they do not see the difference between a true alert and a false alert, I can loose a lot of potential users ...

Of course Avast is a good free anti-virus but it continuous to create regularly a lot of false alerts with Synthedit's dlls even if a lot of devs or users send false positive reports.
And probably the others anti-virus produce also a lot of false alerts but I will migrate to MSE or other free anti-virus, I will keep only Avast to check the false alerts!

So the Anti-virus have the same logic that the virus:
-they check your data and keep any infos about them
-they could destroy any SAFE files on your computer
-they do not prevent any web master when they block a SAFE file or url
-they produce a lot of false alerts with specially little sites like mine to increase theirs statistics
-they do not create any official apologies after a false alert
-this is a criminal act when a private society blocks another society based on nothing...

I cannot lose my time to justify my work!

And now, how can you trust your anti-virus if the majority of alerts are based on nothing of solid?

So I'm very angry about that because I work a lot to provide you stable and good vst and I think in the future that will be impossible to share something on the web because it is the jungle of private societies which make the law!

It's not your Chrome, it's Google's Chrome and it's clear that the problem is the browser you use. Why i said that?: Well, KX77FREE is around for a decade and never had any issue with those things like viruses or malware. Don't you asked yourself why you are the only one reporting this? Ever heard of false positive especially with Synthedit .dll if you have mediocre AV?

But I do not use Chrome (Firefox is really good), I must install it to verify...

With all the antivirus the problem is simply the heuristic algorithms. That's all.

When we trust someone, all the antivirus provide in their settings a whitelist where we can put the url of the website that we perfectly know to be safe.

AVAST or not, it will be the same, for all the antivirus. Simply their heuristic algorithms being slightly different each others, one will make a false alert on a file or a website where another antivirus won't. But the other antivirus will make a false alert on another website where the first antivirus won't.

About the false alerts there's no real solution which could come from the antivirus developers. They do what they can but the number of false alerts due to the heuristic algorithms is astronomical. A heuristic algorithm will NEVER be perfect, because it works only on the statics based on words or hexadecimal strings which are POTENTIALLY indicators... but never evidences. That's why all the antivirus alert for "SUSPECT" or "POTENTIAL" risk. It's not at all the the same thing when it is a real detection of a virus registered in their database where the evidence is there, by the "signature of the virus" which is registered clearly in the database of the antivirus.

So it is totally useless to attempt something with the antivirus developers, they do what they can to improve their heuristic engine from a release to the next, but there will be for the eternity new false alerts.

ALL the antivirus provide a white list in their settings, and often even several whitelists (one for the website urls, one for the senders of emails that you consider as spams, etc.)

The ONLY way to get rid of the false alerts when they are related to a website that we perfectly know to be safe is to put the root url of this website in the whitelist gathering the websites that we know to be safe.

For example, in Avast:
  1. You open Avast
  2. You go to "Settings"
  3. Then "Active protection". You see the list of the agents.
  4. You click the wheel of WebShield
  5. You choose the menu "Exclusions"
  6. You enter the root of the website (http://kx77free.free.fr/ for example)
  7. You click the button "Add"
  8. Then "OK" at the bottom of each windows
  9. And that's all. You'll never be anymore bothered by a false alert on Xavier's website.
It's as simple as this. And it works the same (not necessary with the same menus) in all the antivirus of the world.

There are thousands of false alerts each year due to the necessary heuristic algorithms. It is the cost of the security. The antivirus developers can't manage each false alert, because it would result in daily update files which would be of Gigabytes!

Hi all

I found!
This is not an anti-virus message but really a software limit of Google Chrome

found on a support forum:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/ ... fARC4S5GCc
It's because you are allowing users to directly download an ".exe" file - this is considered dangerous in most cases. What you need to do is place your file in a zip archive and that should remove the "appears malicous" warning from the download.
So I will not modify my links just for this B. S. browser!

Also to delete these alert message you must disactivate in the google avanced parameters the malware protection!

I do not believe that, in my google account I referenced my site with their Meta and in their webmaster tools all is ok!
I cannot do something, just modify my site!!

I lose my time !

@Debutante:
You can load the kx-Modulad with the zip with goolge Chrome, I tested:

That's totally representative of the anarchy from all these companies in matter of security.

Everybody add layers on layers on layers... and each time totally useless AND on criteria which are totally stupid.

It is the same with Microsoft and their UAC, their Smartscreen, etc.

Everybody adds its little layer (and sometime several layers) to give an illusory impression of security for the user but in fact uniquely to bother him.

As I wrote yesterday on another thread, the real efficient security might only be the fact of specialized companies. It is the addition of:
  1. An antivirus correctly tweaked (and with the correct use of its whitelists and blacklists)
  2. A firewall correctly tweaked (and there are excellent antivirus which provides ALSO an excellent firewall in their features)
  3. An antimalware (like Malwarebyte of any other) correctly tweaked to watch permanently (or by a scan once a day) the sudden activity of a spy.
And that's all.

All the rest (UAC, Smarscreen, blocking features by Chrome or other products, etc.) are nothing else than smokescreen to give impressions of security but which have absolutely no other efficiency than bother the user.

@kx77free
MAN!! These synths sound great. I can't afford an actual EMS VCS3 or Synthi, so thank you SO MUCH for making these, and SUPER-thank for releasing them for free.
You are too kind.

And don't get too upset about false-positive virus alerts, especially due to Chrome. I know it's annoying, but screw Google =D .. Your work speaks for itself.

Wow ! A new update of one of my favorite synths !
As always: thank you very much :)
