Can an artist/company buy fake likes on Facebook?

This is my question: Can a verified artist or company buy fake likes on Facebook?
I have this question when visiting a Facebook page by a verified artist. Apparently there are 3 million people who like his page.
However, when I look at the posts for a three consecutive days, I noticed that there were never more than 10,000 likes for each post. Most posts only receive between 2,000 and 5,000 likes.
The comments on each post also only vary between 20 and 300 comments.
I don't say this artist did any fake thing. However, technically, can an artist or company buy fake likes on their Facebook even though their pages are verified by Facebook? Does Facebook have any measure to prevent the fake likes?

It's also worth noting that 10k likes from 3million fans is pretty good going on Facebook. Facebook deliberately hides posts you make to people that follow you and then ask you to pay for more 'reach'.

But if they're advertising on Facebook the legitimate way they can get a lot of likes from fake people who aren't interested in the site at all, too.

I hope all of this doesn't lead to the general public abandoning FB. Sure it's not perfect, but think of all the good it does. And all the wealth that's generated for our local economy.
Keep the faith, kids!

The answer is 'yes'. You should see some of the jobs posted up on the freelancing websites. Things like multiple buying a track at beatport from different IP addresses to get it up the charts and all sorts of related stuff like that.

You can get fake Soundcloud likes as well. In fact, the entire attention economy has a black market for "likes" and "shares".
The sad thing is, it's probably the only way to guarantee you get noticed, either that or blind luck.

I don't think that those were fake fans. That sounds about right for interest in engagement with the State Department.rp314 wrote:US State Department paid $630,000 to acquire 2M fans then realized engagement was 2%Chapelle wrote:Yes, they can buy fake likes.

I just stopped using it.... i didnt feel the need to try and make my life look interesting using filtered photos, or to keep putting my thumb up everytime someone said something.rp314 wrote:Hip people have avoided it from the beginning.Kriminal wrote:Ppl still use FB
