ah - so a voting link appears in the forum after the submission month is over?b :tu:
Does it say that somewhere? I just found that by looking at last months' chat :D
I did try reading the rules again but I couldn't see it! Maybe I skim read ....

Created in Reaper

Been working on it for a while. Getting anxious and tired of working on it so I think its time to submit. Worked hard on getting the sounds to sound right. Tried to get a huge sound from the track and enjoyed working with Polyiblit. Really killed the dynamic range on this track but Im still working on my mixing and mastering skills, plus I wanted this song to sound like a thousand commercials all playing at the same time. oh well. Enjoy

40+ instances of Polyiblit

FX used
MEqualizer
Mstereo expander
Limiter NO6
ReaEQ
Ferric TDS
TDR Feedback Comp

TRACK NOTES:

Created for the KVR One-Synth-Challenge 62: PolyIblit.

All sounds from Andreas Ersson's PolyIblit synthesiser plugin. I used a few of the factory presets but most of the patches are my own.

25 instances of PolyIblit. Mixed/mastered in Cockos Reaper 4.602 with native fx (ReaEQ, ReaComp, ReaGate, ReaDelay) and free fx (Voxengo Marvel GEQ, Klanghelm IVGI, Variety of Sound epicVerb/Thrillseeker VBL/FerricTDS/Density MKIII, arcDev ET-301, Vladislav Goncharov Limiter No6).

Here's my entry: Pulse Width Modulation - The Spanish Captain
10 Instances of PolyIblit used in Cubase LE5.

Effects used:
5 instances of Cusbase native EQ
2 Instances of Cubase native VST Dynamics
1 Instance of DX Reverb Lite
1 Instance of EpicVerb
1 Instance of Ferric TDS
1 Instance of Voxengo Span

I was originally going for a traditional fat analog song, but when I was tweaking around, I discovered that PolyIBlit has some amazing complexity for acoustic emulation! Routing PWM to velocity, envelope, and especially keyboard tracking gave it that realism. I started with a guitar patch that sounded more like an archtop jazz guitar, and from that as a template, a lot of the thinking for the other orchestral sounds went easier. Since I like classical guitar, I tried the best I could to mold the patch more into a nylon string sound.

WOW, this is an interesting entry :) :hail:

I have to agree, Paul's guitar track is fab.

The strange thing is that it popped up just as I started my next entry (for whatever synth we get!), and this will be an orchestral one. Funny how things come round eh?

Cheers,

Rob (aka Doctorbob/db)
