Made my day. Because I strive to compose complex music that would still be club-compatible.

Now that's why Mozart had so many one-night-stands...

Minimalism is cool. What I think isn't cool is when people say that minimalism is somehow "more ethical" or "objectively better" than maximalism. Minimalism at it's worse is those dumb fashion displays in the highstreet, where simply leaving most of the background medium untouched is supposed to be a mark of sophistication.
I'm greatly influenced by the "horror vacui" of folk, children's and outsider art, and the spacefilling work of M.C. Escher. Filling the page is often harder to do and more rewarding, and too many snobs look at density (or lack thereof) as an indicator of quality.
Of course, everything I've said about minimalism is also true of maximalism when the wrong intentions are in play, it's just that maximalism doesn't get the mainstream gung-ho support and hence a lot of these issues don't often come up. For sure, the bourgeoisie and upper class favour minimalism. Prime example: these stupid restauraunts where they charge 100 pounds for a leaf placed perfectly in the middle of the plate to within one millionth of a millimeter. That's not food, it's fashion and power statements, and I'm not particularly excited by either of those.

And now, dear girls, let's make straight talk:
You'd only prefer Mozart instead of me because he has more money, not because of his music!
