I wanted to eliminate duplicate MP3s from my hard drive. First I tried a couple of Linux command line utilities that did not find all of the duplicates. Then I tried DupeGuru Music Edition which worked flawlessly for me. It made the whole de-duping job quick and painless.
It is free and comes in Windows, Mac, and Linux versions. I suggest setting Preferences Scan Type to "Audio Contents." You can also match on filenames or MP3 tags but you will get false positives that way.
