PrettyScope Art Contest
  • Final Results: 4 total entrats! 4 total winners! <Click here>

Duration: May 1st - May 6th (will accept a limited number of submissions on May 7th)
Details
  • VERY INSANELY IMPORTANT NOTE!!!: The demo version does not allow you to load your PrettyScope settings. Therefore, either write down your settings, screenshot them, whatever, or simply finish your project without closing your plugin host/DAW. It's not too big of a deal if you are aware. The settings in PrettyScope are not that complex in version 1.

Download the demo copy of PrettyScope, available now: PrettyScope (.zip)

I will be accepting 3 categories of submission: Video, Gif, Screenshot. You may perform light manipulation of the final image or video if desired, but please include those details when you do submit.

1/10 of the best submissions will win. I'll post the top 3 entries per cateogory around my social networks with your name and a link of your choosing.

Send your PrettyScope creations to Soundemote@gmail.com with subject "contest". Winners of course will receive a free copy of PrettyScope. Any number of submissions are welcome. There will be multiple winners in both categories.

If are not a winner, I would be eternally grateful for your support by purchasing a PrettyScope license for $20 after the contest is over. You may purchase a license at any time. If PrettyScope is well-funded, I will continue to add features!

If you did win but already purchased a copy, I will give your free copy to a contestant or person of your choosing for a limited time (up to June 1st).
Keep up to date with PrettyScope via social networks: P.S. Get Soundemote audio plugin updates via e-mail, signup here: http://eepurl.com/cMnlAb
P.P.S. I hope to have an official website for my company soon.

Sooo, how does one acquire PrettyScope, to participate?
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

We got a handful of contest submissions totalling less than 10. I will choose the top 3! (all categories competing with each other). There was no mac version so that probably hurt the number of submissions. There will most likely be another contest at some point.

I am working diligently to get the free Spiral Generator finished today and released.

Standby.

Wow, that is shocking. :o
I honestly figured there would be 50+ entries just in video alone.
Next contest needs more exposure.
I was really looking forward to seeing lots of amazing submissions.
Such a great fun tool to experiment with, very surprised more people didn't participate.
Win10 x64, Reaper 6.XX x64, i5-3330, 8gb ram, GTX-970, UC-33, Panorama P4, Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 and JVC HA-RX700

Apologies for the delay on contest results. I just finished the spiral generator, free synthesizer. Audio demos and videos coming soon.

- This thing makes a mean vocal bass. Loads of fun to play.

Tomorrow I will finally have some time to breathe and post contest results and send out free PrettyScope copies as well as release the Mac version!!!

OOK, so lesson learned, to do an effective contest you actually need more of a following. I believe there were 4 total entrants... that means EVERYONE WINS!!!!

Sorry for this very low-stakes contest. I'll have to do a higher stakes contest in the future. Maybe when PrettyScope is more developed and it's easier to use to paint images, we can do some more serious stuff! I'd like to have a vector-to-sound synthesizers as well so you can draw precise shapes, for example.

Will post contest results as soon as I hear back from all entrants.

Due to the lack of entrants, eveyrone who entered the contest is a winner. I have sent free PrettyScope license keys to all 4 contestants. Hehe, yes, 4. However, I am thinking of doing more contests in the future. I want to come up with something more exciting. Soundemote will also have more of a following then.

Very beautiful original artwork using PrettyScope. It is abstract, unique, something I would never have imagined something out of an oscilloscope product. It is is reminiscent of art splatter paintings. There is a nice blend of textures, soft and blurry, dry and cracked, wet and flowing.

Frostline Studios (youtube channel)

This is a great video, the beginning reminds me of Hal 9000. It looks like envelope-follower-style modulation was used throughout the video to change colors rapidly. The imagery presented morphs over time so as to be entertaining from beginning to end. The music is soft and easy on the ears.

Abstraction (abstractionmusic.com)

This is a great work, very different from the last piece, visualizing an entire construction of music. Colors a vibrant and we see layers of different textures. I appreciate the galaxy-like effect caused by the tiny dots and slow pixel decay.

Sakunera (twitter.com/sakunera)

While this piece does not feature audio, it does a great job of showing how colorful waveforms can be with the right settings and modulations. The beginning is reminiscent of The Matrix. Later in the video we see vibrant yellows which reminds me of lemon pie.
