The Vongon (not sure about spelling?) synth seems to use a particular kind of standard keyboard switches that allow you to change the caps, so I dont think they're specifically aimed at musicians.
Not sure who they are specifically aimed at, though. People who like tapping tiny penii I guess.

Would seem better if it were Vogon instead of Vongon, but then it would have a much longer lead time before final production. I’m guessing “People who like tapping tiny penii” might even be considered an excellent poem.

Yeah, nor do I. But I did have the momentary, "who sat there and thought, THIS is a good/marketable idea?". Then I did a search for keycaps, and saw the main market, is gaming. Lots of Mario stuff... so the play on 'stormy d and the orange shitgibbon' "mushroom" reference she made, could well be. Curiously, there is one character that stands out stylistically from the norm here:

Yes, with a couple of caveats. The Neutron is 80hp wide, which is 4hp (0.8") short of the 19" racks spec of 84hp.These resolve that issue:

There will obviously be a 1U blank space exposing the rack rails on both sides of the Neutron. That's it.

It definitely has an appeal. I can see skipping some physical hardware by using this, especially for utilities or maybe certain modules you might not use often, but still keep them accessible.

In many ways, using it/buying it, would be a matter of optimizing hp!

It’s the same reason I have Hector and ornament & crime. They’re space savors.

Well, yes, but also no. By optimizing HP I'm mostly talking about counting all the HP something takes and basing decisions too much on that. I see it as related to prospect theory where one is overvaluing the loss of space over the gain of function.

However, while I agree that it does optimize HP in that you're avoiding many modules, it's more about optimizing workflow for me. The problem when things get too spread out is that it's hard to connect everything. So, there's something of a goldilocks size in terms of localized structures. Having a few of these kinds of modules allows you to expand the number of modules in that goldilocks size, or gain flexibility in the modules in that goldilocks size.

I don't think of these as being a replacement for VCV, they're a flexible module that allows me to create flexible components with a few digital modules. Once it's not a controllable machine with the available inputs and knobs, I lose interest.
